Tree Planting at Kaddugala SS
GREENING SCHOOLS: TREE PLANTING FOR CLIMATE AND COMMUNITY IMPACT
Goal:
To promote climate resilience and ecological restoration through massive school-led tree planting and care initiatives.
Our Interventions:
- Distributing and planting indigenous, fruit, and shade trees in and around schools
- Establishing and training 100+ student-led eco-clubs in nursery establishment and tree care
- Integrating tree planting into school-based environmental learning
2030 Targets:
200,000+ trees planted in 100+ schools and communities
100+ school-based nurseries developed
1000+ teachers and students trained in agroforestry practices
Why This Matters:
Beyond offsetting carbon, tree planting fosters long-term stewardship, improves microclimates, and provides food, fuel, and income-generating potential for communities.
